  • Photo Challenge

This week is BIRDS hosted by wolf_dreams

For this week's photo challenge here are three from me:

IMG_1402 This was taken at Lake Murray, Oklahoma in December.  I can't remember what kind of bird this is . . . a vulture?  Ya, that's it.  A Turkey Vulture.  We were up several hundred feet from the lake at this "castle" and several vultures were soaring just feet away from my head.  Humbly I took several pictures of their beauty.

DSC01320 This is our kookaburra at the OKC Zoo.  I really sensed that he (she?) wanted his photo taken that day.  I've tried since to photograph him, but he remains elusive.

DSC01552 Our local Canada Geese.  Taken at Will Rogers Park pond.  Nothing too exciting to say about them.  Except that they are constant and I can always count on them being there.

I highly recommend this movie.  My whole family enjoyed it.  Breathtaking views from the birds themselves.

  • We have the Turkey Vultures in the summer, or, they return in the Spring. I find them fascinating to watch. We see them often eating roadkill. And we have two pairs of Canada Geese this Spring as well, visiting our pond and fields. It used to be just 1 pair. This year they brought friends. They are incredibly noisy. Last week one pair sat on the house we're reno-ing, and just squawked and squawked. Later an eagle went by very close to our windows. Maybe they'd been squawking at him/her.

  • A great shot of the turkey vulture. It's wings are so clean that it looks almost like a hawk.

  • I love your bird photos. Thanks for the movie suggestion.

  • Wonderful photos and you just answered a question I had.  Another challenge taker has a photo of a cuckaburro and I wasn't sure of it and did some searching with no luck.  I have some of the Turkey Buzzard and keep hoping for better.

Thanks for the photos, I enjoyed seeing them.

    Have a wonderful Easter week,
