  • Photo Challenge

This week is BIRDS hosted by wolf_dreams

For this week's photo challenge here are three from me:

IMG_1402 This was taken at Lake Murray, Oklahoma in December.  I can't remember what kind of bird this is . . . a vulture?  Ya, that's it.  A Turkey Vulture.  We were up several hundred feet from the lake at this "castle" and several vultures were soaring just feet away from my head.  Humbly I took several pictures of their beauty.

DSC01320 This is our kookaburra at the OKC Zoo.  I really sensed that he (she?) wanted his photo taken that day.  I've tried since to photograph him, but he remains elusive.

DSC01552 Our local Canada Geese.  Taken at Will Rogers Park pond.  Nothing too exciting to say about them.  Except that they are constant and I can always count on them being there.

I highly recommend this movie.  My whole family enjoyed it.  Breathtaking views from the birds themselves.

  • Six weird things about me

    I've been tagged by EnEVenture

    1.  The best show in the world is a good ol' Oklahoma Thunderstorm...give me a chair and a porch and I'm good for hours!!

    2. I'm fascinated by bugs.  I love to watch them.  Where most folks are squeamish, I really like 'em.  I don't mind holding them or taking them off your arm.

    3.  I like watching movies best all by myself.  At home.  Alone.  Not at the theater.  Alone.  Home.  (Did you get that?)  Now that doesn't mean I don't enjoy seeing movies with friends or the family, but there is a freedom watching all alone.  I can have all my thoughts.

    4.  In my desk you will find an Audubon bird call, several file cabinet keys, a Teaghlach Phabbay charm.  Looks like the one on the left.  It's Clan Morrison's moto with the crest. Also, orange TicTac's, Altoid tangerine sours, paper clips, brass plated fasteners, diaper pins, a very old package of Alka-Seltzer (okay, that's not in there any more), you know those left over pieces that come in packages after assembling something?  I have a bunch of that -- okay that's gone now too.  A letter dated Sept. 5, 2000 from Kali Mama.  Another one dated July 21, 2000 with Cypress vine seeds from Monticello and Scarlet Runner Bean from the Thomas Jefferson Center for Historic Plants (so that's where they are!!), a receipt for a pap smear from the midwifery -- there isn't a year listed on that, but I assure you it's at least five years old.  A business card from Molly.  Every color of sharpie known to woman and a whole bunch of other crap, that I can't believe is in here.

    5. I like collecting all kinds of stuff in draws.  (see above).  When I was little (six years old??), I was given a jewelry box that had four or five little-bitty draws.  I put all kinds of fun things in there -- some are still there -- yep, I still have that box.  I'll have to post a picture of it.

    6. I like cleaning glass.  I've always enjoyed cleaning drinking glasses or windows.  Very rewarding watching them go from dirty to crystal clear.  Aaahhh!!!

Okay, that's my boring life and the weirdness I'm willing to share publicly!!

I'm tagging:  Kali_Mama, Amedea, Cybernene, knitsteel, ivyblogs and whoever else feels inclined to join in the fun.

  • Teach your daughters well . . .

If you didn't see this at Dr. Tiff's site here it is:

It is incredibly sad, but very important to watch.  There isn't any thing graphic or violent.

    And for Alice

    DSC02380

Clematis in my garden.  The picture was taken last Spring.  There are buds on the vines right now, but they aren't open.  Soon.
You'll notice a stick in the background.  This was my homemade trellis.  It looked so nice with the clematis climbing up it.  I'll have to make a new one this year though.  Something (or some little kid  ) broke it.

  • Inspiration Galaxy

Below is my own design.  I've really enjoyed creating this piece.  Inspiration Galaxy is so named because while working on it, I was bombarded with inspiration for other pieces.  I think there will be a whole Galaxy series.  It was difficult to finish, due to stoping and sketching down the other ideas.

My wish is for more time to work on these future pieces.  (You know if you put it out to the Universe, you just might get what you ask for . . .)

This pin was inspired by Deana Hartman's ameoba art.  I've been admiring her art for a couple of years now. I finally created something in her style.  I found this to be a very meditative way to "art".  I'll most likely be doing more of this, but probably in a bit different style.  My own style.

  • Signs of Spring

    Photo-blog-along with Crunchy and Uncskainch

    My offering thus far:

Soapwort from Kali Mama's garden years ago.  This plant puts on very pretty pink flowers.

    Leaves soon to be seen.

A promise of peaches to come in the summertime.  I can hardly wait!!

I'll be adding some other pictures soon.

I'm going away for a weekend of hiking, meditation and sleep with my dear friend Steph.  I am so looking forward to a weekend away.  Woohoo!  Updates next week.

  • Wow!

    My Bloginality is ISFP!!!

    You are an ISFP!

As an ISFP, you are Intraverted, Sensing, Feeling , Perceiving.
This makes your primary focus on Introverted Feeling with Extraverted Sensing.

This is defined as a SP personality, which is part of Carl Jung's Artisans (Sensation Seeking) type, and more specifically the Composers or Artist

Because you are in touch with the inner-artist, you see things heavily in relationship to your feelings and their beauty. You may not be as likely to have a public site, because you feel better sharing with only those who are closest with you.

    Very interesting.
